CCTV footage has shown how two men cheated death when a huge tree toppled on top of a car as they unloaded it from a shopping trip.

As Storm Arwen raged across Greater Manchester last night, Les Webb had just parked his Honda Jazz car outside his friend Anthony Blanchard's home in Kent Road, Cheadle Heath.

They were unloading goods they had bought from their trip to IKEA when the tree from the park opposite the house engulfed the car and them.

Miraculously, the car took the full weight of trunk of the tree and Les, 54, and Anthony, 47, escaped with minor grazes from the branches which surrounded them. READ MORE:Storm Arwen hits Greater Manchester with 120 HGVs trapped in snow on M62 - and almost 70,000 properties without power as trees
