Husband gives police unusual reason for stopping his BMW on M56 hard shoulder

A driver has been slammed by police after giving his reason for stopping on the hard shoulder of the M56. Traffic police spotted the white BMW 4 Series, with its hazard lights on, stopped on the hard shoulder of the eastbound carriageway.

The car was stopped a quarter of a mile away from junction five, near Manchester Airport. Officers stopped to speak to the BMW driver at the side of the motorway.

North West Motorway Police says the driver told them he had stopped his car because he was waiting for a call from his wife.
