Thousands of holidaymakers have had their plans changed because of a tropical storm, with at least a dozen cruise lines changing course to avoid Hurricane Ernesto in the northern Caribbean.
GHoliday companies Carnival, Celebrity and Norwegian cruise lines confirmed they would be rerouting ships to avoid the storm.Earlier this year, Hurricane Beryl also forced several cruise lines to reroute their ships.
It means holidaymakers will have to adapt to altered itineraries with some destinations missed out and others cut short, or new dates put in place, reports The Express.The 2024 Atlantic hurricane season began on June 1 and will end on November 30.
So far, five tropical cyclones have formed, and all of them became named storms. Three of the storms became a hurricane, of which one strengthened into a major hurricane.
