Hundreds of trees planted in Lanarkshire park thanks to community champions

More than 800 trees were planted in a formerly rundown recreation area thanks to Friends of Dunedin Park.The group formed with the aim of sprucing up the tired 50-year-old play park and their grand plans for the East Kilbride area are coming along nicely.The trees funded by South Lanarkshire Council and the Woodland Trust included Common Alder, Downy Birch, Hazel, Crab Apple and Elder and were planted during National Tree Week (November 27-December 5).The council have also planted seven fruit trees and another six larger trees in the park.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
