Hundreds attend Mercy Baguma candle-lit vigil in Glasgow for tragic asylum seeker

Mercy Baguma who was found dead with her starving baby found crying in a cot. More than 100 hundred people attended the vigil at Elder Park Boating Pond, in the city's Govan area.Mercy's body was driven from Edinburgh to Manchester Airport yesterday and today will be flown to Uganda for a burial in her home town of Bugiri on Sunday evening.Eric Nnanna, father of her one-year-old son Adriel, said he wanted to mark the burial for the tot with a socially distanced,silent vigil to remember her life.Elder Park was chosen for the event because it was a place that Mercy loved and where she spent time with her young family.Dozens of attendees turned out, including Eric and Adriel, with candles and photos of Mercy.Robina Qureshi, of organisers.
