Hugh Grant has denied reports that he is in talks to play Prince Andrew in an upcoming movie. The project is said to centre on the disgraced Royal’s disastrous TV interview with Newsnight host Emily Maitlis which aired in November 2019, and will follow behind the scenes of the infamous interview.
Actor Hugh, 61, was said to be “one of the unconfirmed names in the frame” to portray the Royal in the movie, according to Deadline.
He has since denied this on Twitter, saying: "No I am not. Never heard of it." A TV insider discussed further details of the project to The Sun: "The creators of this film clearly see this landmark interview as the turning point in Andrew's catastrophic fall from grace. "Rather like the film Frost/Nixon it will look at the lead up to the interview and show in detail how Emily forensically pulled the royal apart – and gained some responses which were as shocking as they were bizarre." Prince Andrew, 62, attempted to dispel his rumoured associations with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein in the BBC2 interview.
Instead, he faced a grilling about his links to Epstein and his friend Ghislane Maxwell and his own sex abuse allegations with a 17 year old.
