Huge fire in Cumbernauld LIVE as emergency crews at industrial estate

A massive fire has erupted at an industrial estate in Cumbernauld. Firefighters are battling a huge fire at at Blairlinn Industrial Estate in Cumbernauld which includes the Wardpark Recycling Centre.

Two fire service appliances rushed to the scene at around 2.35pm and on arrival firefighters found one single storey building well alight.

A further four appliances then raced to industrial estate as well. Six ambulances, three special operations response teams (SORT), a paramedic response unit, a trauma team and a resuscitation rapid response unit (3RU) were dispatched to the scene.

The alarm was raised after a huge plume of black smoke was seen billowing miles away.Shocking photographs from the scene show the extent of the fire.
