Huge fire breaks out in school building sending huge plumes of smoke billowing into sky

A huge fire has broken out at a primary school as clouds of thick black smoke can be seen for miles. The fire broke out just after noon at Harrington Junior School in Long Eaton, Notts.

Pictures and videos show the area engulfed in plumes of thick smoke. One Twitter user said the smoke could be seen as far as 12 miles away in Smalley.

No children were in the school at the time and everybody is reported as safe. A school spokesman said: “Our beautiful, vibrant school is on fire. "No children in school today.
