broke out on the estate on James Street, Westhoughton, just after 7.40pm on Tuesday, June 9. At its height, 12 fire engines were involved in battling the blaze.Three fire engines remain at the scene damping down any remaining hotspots and preventing the fire spreading further.The fire involved a number of single-storey units on the estate, with the blaze measuring 70 metres by 80 metres.Fire crews have managed to save around 60 per cent of the building, but the remainder has suffered severe damage and will have to be demolished.At one point a large smoke plume could be seen billowing from the building.Nearby residents were advised to keep their doors and windows shut.Road closures in the area have been lifted, but drivers are being warned.
