That early swansong comes after the Chelsea match was hastily rearranged due to their FA Cup final commitments later this month.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 23rd goal of the season against the Blues as United staged an instant fight-back after Marcos Alonso had put Chelsea in front.
United were second best for most of the 90 minutes, though, as they gear up to return to Old Trafford for the conclusion of another Premier League matchday.
