How to complete Tax Credits renewal pack accurately and avoid delayed payments or £3,000 fine

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) have confirmed that the last of the Tax Credits renewal packs should arrive by the end of this week and should be completed by July 31, 2021.

To help claimants complete the pack accurately, HMRC has updated its online guidance with tips on relevant content to include and what to leave out.

However, the guidance also explains why claimants may be charged a penalty of up to £3,000 for failing to complete a claim form accurately and that it does so to encourage people to be careful and make sure their Tax Credit claims are right in the future, to stop customers from giving them wrong information and to penalise people who try to defraud the system.
