Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is a benefit many people have heard of or read about, but may not be sure who it can help or how to apply.
The biggest misunderstanding around PIP is that the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will only award the benefit to people with outwardly visible physical, long-term health conditions or disabilities.
However, PIP is a benefit aimed at providing support for people with an ever-evolving list of 'hidden' conditions, including stress, anxiety, depression and dementia.
The latest figures from the DWP show that by the end of January 2021 more than 2.64 million people across the UK are receiving PIP, including 281,788 Scots.
