It’s two days after Thanksgiving when George Clooney speaks to Deadline to discuss his ambitious The Midnight Sky, a timely sci-fi film split between a spacecraft and the frozen Iceland tundra.
Scripted by The Revenant writer Mark L. Smith and just as rugged in its outdoor scenes, the film provides an up the road look at what might happen to Earth if mankind doesn’t slow the pace of a warming planet that is a gassy, ruined and uninhabitable husk just 29 years from now.
Clooney stars as Augustine Lofthouse, an ailing scientist who has made it possible for survivors to migrate, but who stays behind in the Arctic to help everyone else as they head for a new start in a new paradise in space.
