The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh married in a beautiful ceremony at St George's Chapel, Windsor on June 19, 1999 and are today celebrating their 24th wedding anniversary.The popular royal couple were originally styled as The Earl and Countess of Wessex in honour of their special day, but were made The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh by King Charles earlier this year.
As they mark their special day, royal expert Jennie Bond has opened up on the couple's relationship and describes why Sophie was "brave" to enter the royal family when she did.
Sophie Rhys-Jones met Prince Edward at a charity tennis match and the pair dated for six years before marrying in 1999.Their wedding was a grand affair and saw all of the Royal Family gather together to wish the couple well.
For their ceremony, the couple decided to make it as "informal" as possible and asked their guests not to bring evening wear or wear hats during the service.
