Salford council is planning new changes this year as part of its budget proposals. The town hall is under pressure from growing demand for services and rising costs, but needs to balance the books by boosting income and making savings.
Salford is facing a £5.6m overspend and has plans for council tax increases and other charges set to hit residents in the pocket.
Council tax is set to go up by five per cent, a hike of £65 a year for people living in Band A properties, or £97 for Band D households.
Social housing rents are also going up alongside changes to service charges in Salford. New rates for 2025/26 vary between blocks from a £5.21 weekly hike at Hornbeam Court to £1.29 at Spruce Court.
