Senator Joseph McCarthy, was nominated for six Academy Awards including Best Picture.20 years after the film’s release, the 63-year-old screen icon is making his Broadway debut in a revival of the critically-acclaimed motion picture.This time around, the popular actor will step into the Murrow role (David Stratharin portrayed him in the movie).
He’ll be flanked by well-known actors like Ilana Glazer (“Broad City”), Clark Gregg (“The Avengers”) and Frank Kranz (“The Cabin in the Woods”) among others.To bring the action to life, Clooney told the New York Times that “the stage will be transformed into a newsroom with about 30 monitors moving around, showing old footage” to “recreate what it’s like to watch television being made,” the play’s Tony Award-winning director David Cromer said.“We’re going to do it onstage with cameras and live feed to mix with the real footage,” Cromer added. “so you’ll see George and then you’ll see Joseph McCarthy and you’ll see George and you’ll see Joseph McCarthy.” “[The play] feels more like it’s about truth, not just the press.
