How long will it stay sunny for in Greater Manchester?

After a bit of a disappointing summer, the weather has decided to pick up just as autumn begins. Greater Manchester has been hit by a heatwave, bringing with it highs of 28C so far this week.

According to the latest Met Office forecast, the hot spell is expected to last until Sunday. To meet the heatwave criteria, the daily maximum temperature must reach or exceed 25C in Greater Manchester, for three consecutive days.

Last night saw the mercury remain in the high teens over night, while today (Tuesday September 5) has seen wall-to-wall sunshine as temperatures topped 27C.

The same can be expected for Greater Manchester tomorrow (Wednesday September 6), with uninterrupted sunshine forecast until around 3pm, when the sky will turn slightly cloudy.
