She had taken two days off Good Morning Britain with Charlotte Hawkins presenting in her usual early week slots, after the emotionally challenging weekend.
Kate told co host Adil Ray that while they do not know how much Derek can see or hear, they prayed he felt the love as they sang happy birthday to him via a video call.
She added that she linked up with Derek's parents on the video call too, so his entire family were there virtually to celebrate his special day. "It was Derek's birthday on Saturday as well, which was obviously a challenging one under the circumstances," she
