On Friday (November 5), Connor Faulkner was jailed for seven years for causing the death of Joanne Whyte by dangerous driving. The 27-year-old was uninsured, had no licence, and was banned from the road when he got behind the wheel of his granddad's powerful BMW without his knowledge. Joanne, 49, was struck while crossing the road in Denton following the England versus Italy football match in the final of Euro 2020. Paramedics battled to save her life but she was pronounced dead at 2.12am. Meanwhile, Faulkner failed to stop at the scene and even tried to cover his tracks - by picking up debris from the car and throwing it over a fence.
