A suspected drug den in a house where violence broke out has been closed by police. The property in Byron Street, Macclesfield, was shut yesterday (February 5) under a closure order issued obtained by officers at Crewe Magistrates Court.
Residents had complained their lives were being ruined by fights, drug dealing and anti-social behaviour at all hours. The order will run for three months.
Cheshire Police say it is a result of police responding to the concerns of residents regarding the behaviour at the house, "including drug activity, antisocial behaviour and escalating violence." A spokesperson for Cheshire Constabulary said: "This closure order will hopefully bring some peace for the local community which was having to endure such disruptive and harmful behaviour. "Closures such as these could not be possible without the valuable input of residents, local authority, housing associations and private landlords.
By working together, communities can only benefit from the positive action the team can take on their behalf." The occupant of the property has been ordered to leave and find alternative accommodation, with all windows and doors being secured for a period of three months.
