Hotel quarantine for UK arrivals will cost up to £1,750 a head and lawbreakers can be jailed for up to 10 YEARS, Matt Hancock announced today.
The Health Secretary finally confirmed some key details of the scheme after days of delay and rows with hotel firms, days before it launches on February 15.
But in farcical scenes he admitted fewer than 5,000 rooms have been signed up so far - at just 16 hotels - despite an estimated 1,400 people arriving each day from red list countries.
And in a blow to Brits' summer holidays, he hinted the measures may last to Autumn at least if a vaccine is not effective enough against new variants.
