A helicopter has smashed into the roof of a hotel in Cairns City, leading to massive evacuations in the vicinity.Queensland Police have set up an exclusion zone in the Australian city, covering Esplanade, Minnie Street, Aplin Street and Grafton Street.
They've also issued a Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) notice for the area.Emergency services were alerted to the crash site at the Esplanade on the city's eastern side at 1:50am local time on Sunday morning.
The public has been urged to steer clear of the area while authorities conduct their probe into the incident. Initial findings from the investigation suggest that a helicopter crashed into the roof of a hotel.
The building was cleared as a safety measure, and no injuries have been reported among those on the ground, reports the Mirror.
