A "lovely" farmer and his wife were found dead in their home with gunshot wounds, launching a police investigation. Officers from Leicestershire Police were called to the couple's home on Smeeton Road, Saddington, at around 11.30am on Friday, December 15 after paramedics from East Midlands Ambulance discovered the couple.
Police confirmed the bodies belonged to Richard Harrison, 59, and Rachel Harrison, 54. A post-mortem examination confirmed the pair died from gunshot wounds.
Neighbours shocked by the news have begun issuing tributes in the couple's memory, the Mirror reports. It is a terrible thing to happen, really shocking, and has upset so many of us at a time when we should all be looking forward to celebrating Christmas with loved ones." One friend of the couple said they "seemed so together" and that "I am finding it all very shocking and hope their family are getting all the support they need." Another said their deaths were the "worst thing" to happen to the local community.
