An artist who spent more than 30 years turning her cottage into a 'life-size dolls house' says her eccentric style of bright interior decoration has scared off any potential buyers.

Mary Rose Young has been putting her own touches on the beautiful country home in Lydney, Gloucestershire, by hand since 1987, when she purchased the property for just £30,000.

After 27 years in the house, she put it up for sale in 2014 and estate agents told her that she could expect it to fetch at least £250,000 from prospective buyers.

But her hopes of selling up to open a boutique hotel nearby were dashed when only one person could be persuaded to view the house, with Mary Rose saying they 'left pretty quickly'.
