A rough sleeper has been praised after he used his sleeping bag to catch a baby who was thrown to safety from a first floor window in a house fire.
Jason Barry successfully caught the toddler and saved him from serious injury after one of his parents lowered him out of the window.
The decision to throw the child was made as smoke and flames engulfed the property in North Street, Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire.
Fire crews were called to reports of a building blaze after a fire originated in the first floor kitchen of a three storey terraced building and was believed to have been started by a cooking appliance.
