Paralympic champion Steph McGuire is shining after his golden success in Paris, and says his success “still hasn’t sunk in yet” after a whirlwind month including a visit to Downing Street and star-studded homecoming celebrations.

The Hamilton hero met up with the Hamilton Advertiser at his hometown’s A-listed landmark mausoleum on his return, sharing his reflections on his long-awaited and hugely popular triumph – and showing his gold medal from his impressive triumph in the boccia BC4 individual final.

He has already attended a reception hosted by the prime minister and starred at the athletes’ homecoming ceremony in Birmingham, as well as appearing on TV since his win and getting set for tonight’s recognition event for the Scottish contingent from Team GB in Edinburgh.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
