The director of Home Alone has an unpopular opinion about Disney+’s upcoming series. Chris Columbus opened up to Insider about the bold move of rebooting the instant Christmas classic movie that came out in 1990, and revealed he’s not a fan of the idea of rebooting it for a series at all. “It’s a waste of time as far as I’m concerned.
What’s the point?” he shared. “I’m a firm believer that you don’t remake films that have had the longevity of Home Alone.” Chris continued on saying that “you’re not going to create lightning in a bottle again.
It’s just not going to happen. So why do it? It’s like doing a paint-by-numbers version of a Disney animated film — a live-action version of that.” He added, “What’s the point?
