Hollywood actor Bill Nighy shocked diners after he was spotted in an Edinburgh cafe this week. The Love Actually and Shaun of the Dead star paid a visit to L'etoile Salon de Tea near Grassmarket on Thursday.

The 74-year-old was happy to pose with the starstruck staff and also chatted to passerby as he sat outside the cafe for lunch, Edinburgh Live reports.

Staff posted to their social media: "A special thanks to Mr Bill Nighy for his visit to the cafe, we were very pleased to meet you in person, a true gentleman, et on espère vous revoir très bientôt à votre prochaine visit a Edinburgh.

Sincerely L’Etoile Team." The second part translates to: "And we hope to see you very soon on your next visit to Edinburgh."Owner Noble spoke to Edinburgh Live about the famous actor stopping by for lunch.
