Netflix has announced that Ed Sheeran has penned an original song, Under The Tree, for Richard Curtis' forthcoming animated film, That Christmas.

The film is set to premiere on the streaming service in December, giving Ed's fans something to look forward to. Produced by Locksmith Animation and directed by Simon Otto, known for his work on the How to Train Your Dragon trilogy, the film promises to be a festive treat for all the family.

Penned by Richard Curtis and Peter Souter, That Christmas features Brian Cox as Santa, Fiona Shaw as Ms. Trapper, Jodie Whittaker as Mrs Williams and Bill Nighy as Bill, residents of a quaint seaside town whose lives are upended during the festive season.

Unless he drops new music between now and December, this could be Ed's first song since his album Autumn Variations was released last year, reports the Mirror.
