Holidaymakers have been warned that not washing off their SPF before bed could result in a variety of skin conditions. Sleep experts at Winstons have cautioned that heavy SPF products could clog pores and contribute to poor sleep hygiene at nighttime.

Travellers hoping to head abroad this summer will no doubt be stocking up on SPF sunscreens to protect themselves from the sun's harmful rays.

Generally, people are advice to apply sunscreen multiple times throughout the day to effectively protect skin. However, keeping SPF products on overnight could see your body's oils mixing the sun screen, effectively clogging your pores.

Rebecca Swain, sleep and mattress expert at WinstonsBeds said: “Sunscreen is a must on holiday and we should all be reapplying it multiple times a day to keep our face and bodies protected from the sun. “What a lot of people aren’t aware of is that you should be completely washing it off at the end of each day.
