This was the moment a sniggering killer’s bid to get away with murder was foiled. Abdul Babar and his brother Sikander Babar were involved in the brutal killing of Sadiq Al-Lami, who was stabbed 11 times then left to die in East Didsbury.
It followed a high speed chase and a ‘road rage’ row, Minshull Street Crown Court heard. The brothers plotted to leave the country in the aftermath of the murder.
It is believed they intended to travel to Pakistan. They had made it hundreds of miles away to Essex after hiding in the back of a lorry, before they were spotted by police getting out of the vehicle at Clacton-On-Sea train station.
Footage released following their sentencing hearing shows the moment they were apprehended by police. Abdul Babar, 19, appeared to be smoking an e-cigarette while officers handcuffed him just after midday on January 29, six days after the killing.
