Heartbroken loved ones of a hillwalker who died "doing what he loved best" on Ben More have raised nearly £20,000 for the rescue teams that battled to save him.Andrew Kirk, 33, passed away after falling from the mountain at around 11.15am on Saturday, January 28.
Mercy crews, including those from the Killin Mountain Rescue Team, raced to the scene but the Glasgow man tragically died from his injuries.Tributes flooded in and family and friends said Andrew "died doing what he loved best".
His funeral took place on Monday, February 27, and donations were made the mountain rescue team in place of flowers. Andrew's wife Emma said: "Andrew died as a result of a tragic accident doing what he loved on the hills."We cannot put into words our gratitude to Killin Mountain Rescue Team.
The bravery, tenacity and selflessness shown by the volunteers to tirelessly bring Andrew home was exceptional."Launching the fundraiser in his memory, the family added: "Andrew absolutely adored hill-walking, as we all know, and was never happier than when on a wild adventure or devouring some well-deserved scran after! "Emma and Andrew's family are so hugely grateful to the Killin Mountain Rescue Team for everything they did for Andrew.
