Highway Code warns parking in wrong direction could land you with £2,500 fine

Drivers who park their cars facing the wrong way could be left with a hefty fine, according to the Highway Code. All unmarked street parking is subject to the rules, but many drivers won’t be aware of the law and could face paying if they are not complying.

Cars must be parked facing the same way as the direction of traffic at night if you’re not in a marked bay, the Highway Code states.

You could see yourself land a whopping £1000 fine if you are caught parking the wrong way - and it can even raise to £2,500 for goods vehicles or passenger vehicles over eight seats.
