Gary Barlow performed his first gig as an eager 11-year-old in a social club in North Wales, long before he found fame with Take That.
Now about to turn 50, that little lad with a keyboard from Cheshire has a long and esteemed pop career to reminisce on. Ahead of his birthday on Wednesday, Gary Barlow chatted to US radio station Sirius XM about some of the moments of his superstar musical journey.
The highs included singing to packed stadiums, world tours and the adulation of millions – but the lows include being dropped by his record label.
He also told how he regrets investing in a tax-avoidance scheme, calling it “one of the most stupid things I’ve done”, and saying he hadn’t understood the scheme when he signed up.
