As Dons forward Luis Lopes burst through on goal, he collided with Hibees goalkeeper David Marshall, with the situation looking dead with an offside flag raised.
After a lengthy VAR check, eventually it was decided than Ryan Porteous had played the Aberdeen attacker onside and that a decision needed to be made on whether Marshall made contact with his man or not.
There was enough in it for referee David Munro to be beckoned over to the monitor for closer inspection by those at Clydesdale House, with the whistler then deeming the Hibs leader was guilty of the crime.
