Police were called out to concerns for the welfare of a man on Gibraltar Lane, in Haughton Green, at around 5.30am on Tuesday (June 8).
As they arrived at the scene, officers discovered that a man had fallen into the River Tame. Police entered the water and were able to rescue the man by moving him to the river bank with a rope.
Paramedics arrived on the scene shortly after police, and the man was then taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment. The man suffered serious injuries, North West Ambulance Service told the Manchester Evening News .
