Helpers encouraged to 'get involved' with new-look air show as South Ayrshire Council launch volunteer appeal

Volunteers are wanted for a range of roles for this year’s new-look air show.South Ayrshire Council are calling on people to “roll up their sleeves and get involved” with September’s International Ayr Show – Festival of Flight by becoming a festival volunteer.A variety of roles are needing filled for the three-day event over Friday, September 8 to Sunday, September 10.

Those who would like to support the event are encouraged to email Volunteers@south-ayrshire.gov.uk to find out more. The air show is set for a jam-packed weekend of aviation fun with a Typhoon jet, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and the iconic Red Arrows already on the bill.And just this week council chiefs announced an exciting addition with father and son pilot team Tim and Tom Dews set to light up the skies with Airborne Pyrotechnics as part of the evening flying display on Friday, September 8.Equipped with LED lights and pyrotechnics attached to the tips of their wings, the team will perform a graceful two aircraft formation display showcasing their skills.The duo will also wow crowds on Saturday, September 9, with their daytime display, where they will swap the pyrotechnics for smoke.Councillor Brian Connolly, portfolio holder for Sport and Leisure, said the event requires “as many hands on deck as possible to help us deliver a memorable event that will help put South Ayrshire on the map.”He added: “This is your opportunity to be at the heart of the action whilst carrying out a key role.”Councillor Alec Clark, the council’s spokesperson for Tourism, Culture and Rural Affairs, said: “Volunteers play a key role in many events, and The International Ayr Show – Festival of Flight is no different.“This is the chance for people to roll up their
