Helena Bonham Carter has urged the public to purchase a white rose to help fund nurses and midwives. To mark the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth, the Harry Potter star wants to use the simple gesture to thank nurses who ‘meant a lot to them’.
The star, whose great great grandmother was Florence’s aunt, explained: ‘Buying a white rose is a simple way to honour our nurses and midwives. ‘We must never forget the sacrifice they make on an everyday basis during this time….’ She continued: ‘My late father was nursed at home for 24 years by hundreds of different nurses.
