Heineken will raise the price of its lagers due to current impact of inflation. The company, which also supplies Strongbow and Amstel, said that the decision was based on the soaring costs of ingredients and energy.

Input costs for the firm are said to be on the rise by a mid-teens percentage with the price of barley rising by double in the past year.

Aluminium prices will also go up by around 50 per cent, the Mirror reports. The price rise of the beers and drinks on the supermarket shelves remains unclear.

Heineken chief executive Wolf van den Brink said: “These kind of price increases and inflation, I think we have not seen in a generation.” Last year was reportedly a strong year for Heineken, after restrictions to hospitality sent profits soaring.
