con woman conned an elderly widowed friend out of more than £50,000 - and fobbed her off with lies about repayment for 15 years.
Maria Marston, 54, tricked the victim with a number of bogus documents and falsely claimed she had sums up to £3.5 million in a trust fund - and was good for repayment.
The victim who is now 83, had financial difficulties and at one stage she and her daughter's family were living in a house where they could not afford to fix the heating system - which caused more than a decade of hardship and heartache.
The pensioner was also grieving the loss of her mother as well as the sudden deaths of her husband and son in separate road accidents when she was targeted, Leicestershire Live reported.
