A health expert has issued a warning over physician associates after a young actress' fatal blood clot was misdiagnosed as long-covid and anxiety.

Emily Chesterton, 30, had been complaining of calf pain and shortness of breath when she went to her local GP surgery in Crouch End, London, believing she was booked to see a GP.

Instead, unbeknown to her, she was seen on two occasions by a physician associate, who has significantly less training and different qualifications to a doctor.

She was wrongly prescribed medication to slow her heart rate. Try MEN Premium for FREE by clicking here for no ads, fun puzzles and brilliant new features. Emily, a talented actress originally from Boothstown in Salford, tragically died on October 31 last year after suffering a cardiac arrest.
