Touching tributes have been paid to a talented footballer and former local election candidate who died suddenly at his home aged just 47.
Stuart Brannigan has been described as the 'life and soul of the party' and 'a very genuine and popular lad'. He passed away on April 25 at his home, but his heartbroken family said they don't yet know the cause of his death.
Mr Brannigan, from Helmshore In Rossendale, grew up in the village, where he ran for the council aged in his 20s for the Labour Party.
His wife, Kellie, said: "He was the life and soul of the party and he was a very genuine and popular lad. There wasn’t a football ground he hadn’t said ‘I’ve played there’ and he always had a ball at his feet."
