Rishi Sunak 'hasn't spoken to any northern leaders' after he axed the HS2 rail link to Manchester, a mayor who also complained about his alternative proposals said today.
After weeks of mounting speculation, the Prime Minister used his Conservative Party Conference speech in Manchester on Wednesday to announce the line would not reach the city as promised.
He claimed 'every penny' of the £36bn saved would be reinvested in 'hundreds' of transport projects in the North and the Midlands, under what he called Network North.
