Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has detailed his pride after breaking Wayne Rooney's mark for the goals scored in the Premier League.

Kane's header in first-half stoppage time against Crystal Palace was his 209th in the top flight, beating Rooney's record of 208 which was set during his time at United and Everton.

The England captain also managed to break the record for scoring the most headers in a single season with Saturday's being his 10th of the campaign.

Speaking to Sky Sports post-match, a delighted Kane paid tribute to Rooney and his legacy. "Amazing, you know Wayne is one of the best players the Premier League has ever seen and this country has ever seen so to go ahead of him is something I am extremely proud of," he explained.
