Meghan and Harry's celebrity status solely stems from their shocking allegations about the royal family's inner workings, according to one expert.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex gained a lot of attention from their bombshell Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan, where they revealed a series of appalling revelations about their time within the Firm.Harry detailed the breakdown of his relationship with his brother, Prince William, as he recalled an alleged confrontation between the two during a meeting at Sandringham regarding his move to the US.Meanwhile, Meghan discussed the challenges she faced with her mental health while living in the UK after her marriage to Harry, the Express reports.

Public relations expert Ryan McCormick believes Meghan and Harry should have "capitalised" off other ventures after the success of their Netflix series.

He told Express.co.uk: "These two individuals are most well known for spilling the secrets of the Royal Family (to which they owe all their fame and wealth). "If they had capitalised on the momentum during peak interest with the launch of their Spotify podcast (which they blundered), a fashion line, some type of educational membership course, or something similar; Harry and Meghan could have attained a higher level of prestige."His comments come amid speculation that the Sussexes are actually stepping further away from the royal family. The couple have reportedly spent £3m ($3.8m) to secure the rights to produce a new film for Netflix which is based on the best selling novel Meet Me At The Lake by Carley Fortune.Their new project, which has some "obvious parallels" back to their own lives, is a part of their £87.7m ($112m) deal with the streaming giant.
