A former Strangeways prison officer believes that serial killer Robert Maudsley, also known as 'Hannibal the Cannibal', should be removed from solitary confinement.
Maudsley is currently the longest-serving prisoner in the UK's penal system. The Liverpool-born murderer has spent 50 consecutive Christmases behind bars for his crimes.
At the age of 21, Maudsley was imprisoned for murder in 1974 and has been kept separate from other prisoners for 45 years after killing three more inmates.
