Joe Otterson TV Reporter “The Handmaid’s Tale” followup “The Testaments” is continuing to build out its cast. Variety has learned that Mattea Conforti has joined the Hulu show as a series regular.
The series, based on the Margaret Atwood novel of the same name, is set 15 years after the events of “The Handmaid’s Tale.” Conforti joins previously announced cast members Chase Infiniti, Lucy Halliday, Ann Dowd, and Rowan Blanchard.
Per the official description, the series follows a new generation of young women in Gilead. “For these young women, growing up in Gilead is all they have ever known, having no tangible memories of the outside world prior to their indoctrination into this life.
Facing the prospect of being married off and living a life of servitude, they will be forced to search for allies, both new and old, to help in their fight for freedom and the life they deserve.” Conforti will star as Becka, described as “a girl from humble origins, who attends school with Gilead’s elite.
