Hamilton will fall silent this weekend to remember all those who served and gave their lives in both World Wars and in conflicts across the globe.A Remembrance service will take place at the town’s cenotaph in Bothwell Park on Sunday afternoon, followed by an Armistice Day commemoration at the Victoria Cross memorial in the town centre on Monday morning, November 11.Both will see poppy wreaths laid by local dignitaries, politicians and community organisations, and will include the poignant Last Post, a piper’s lament and two-minute silence.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

It will be led be Rev Ross Blackman of Hamilton Old Parish Church and Rev Joanne Hood of St John’s Parish Church, while readings will be given by pupils from Hamilton Grammar.
