Hamilton resident Lily celebrates 101st birthday - thanks to "a wee whisky and red wine"

A special resident at a Hamilton care home celebrated her remarkable 101st birthday – and says the secret to her long life is “a wee whisky and red wine”.Much-loved Douglas View resident Lily Dick had “a party fit for a queen” with her family plus staff and friends at the William Street home, where she was treated to a cake, decorations, buffet and live music performance.Staff at the HC-One Scotland home described her as “one of [their] most inspirational residents” as they enjoyed sharing in the celebration of her landmark birthday.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

She has three sons and a daughter, seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and celebrated the special occasion with her family.She got ready for her big day by getting her hair and nails done and chose to wear a favourite sparkly jumper to make her feel “a million dollars” on the occasion.Lily was presented with cards, gifts and even a sash and badge as she turned 101, and celebrated her birthday with a party including a personalised cake, special buffet, dancing with family and friends and
