Airdrie won promotion to the Championship with a dramatic 6-5 penalty shoot-out win over Hamilton at New Douglas Park.The sides couldn't be separated after 120 minutes of football, but when Josh Rae saved Dan O'Reilly's penalty, it meant that Cammy Ballantyne's spot-kick won it for the Diamonds 6-5.It looked like sub Jean-Pierre Tiehi had won the game for Hamilton after blasting in from close range in 80 minutes, but Gabby McGill levelled the tie on aggregate as he slammed in a last-gasp goal to hand Airdrie a lifeline.Connor Smith had put Accies ahead midway through the first half with a goal that was slightly against the run of play, but when Tiehi fired them ahead in the tie with 10 minutes to go, the hosts were well on top.But the Diamonds came roaring back and McGill handed them a lifeline, slamming in the rebound when his own shot was well parried by Jamie Smith.The first period of extra-time ended goal-less though Dylan McGowan had a shot saved on the line and Calum Gallagher headed narrowly over.Airdrie started the better of the sides and looked lively early on, but Hamilton took the lead slightly against the run of play and it gave them a real boost, with a few chances thereafter to take the lead in the tie.Airdrie made a lot of good running, but the closest they went was with two free kicks by player-boss Rhys McCabe, with one smacking off the top of the crossbar and the other forcing a terrific save from Jamie Smith.The second half saw these sides more or less cancel each other out, with few chances created at either end, though they both looked lively enough.But Tiehi struck to give Accies a priceless lead.Hamilton Accies head coach John Rankin made two changes to the side that lost at New Broomfield on
